FAQ

How does the Virtual Puppy to Perfect Program Work?

What is your service area?

I work with clients all over the country, and am based in Ohio. I serve the Central OH area for in-home lessons if that is the program type you need. That includes Columbus, Ohio and its suburbs, Lancaster, Newark and Zanesville.

What Services do you offer?

I offer in-home lesson programs and virtual coaching programs for dog owners to learn how to improve their life with their dog. I have frameworks for overcoming problem behaviors, helping anxious dogs, teaching obedience commands, and raising puppies.

What type of training do you do?

I train family dogs. I commonly work with dogs who simply don’t know how they are supposed to behave or who don’t understand what their owners want them to do (or not do).

This includes dogs who don’t know obedience commands and dogs who jump on people, pull on leash, or bark too much. I also commonly work with dogs who are anxious or lack confidence. These are dogs who act afraid of new people or things. This includes dogs who are leash reactive- that bark and growl on leash.

I also work with tons of puppies teaching both them and their owners essential puppy and dog owner skills. This includes house training, what to chew, proper play, basic commands, basic manners and so much more.

How does Virtual Training work?

I get some funny looks when I tell people I help dog owners virtually.

In my almost 8 years of working with dogs and their owners, it has become glaringly obvious that what people need is thoughtful education on how to train their dogs, NOT someone to do it for them.

People learn very well through videos, examples, and discussion. I find this method to work especially well with puppies.

Whether we meet in-person or virtually, most of what we will be doing is talking through your issues, figuring out solutions, and planning out the steps you will take to improve your dog's behavior.

What Methods do you use?

The methods and tools that we use are determined by what your dog responds well to and what you choose to do. I am here as a coach to offer advice and instruction. There are many ways to accomplish goals. We will come up with the best plan for you and your dog together.

What Tools do you use?

I don't focus on tools and use what makes sense with each dog.

There are many many tools out there. I understand how to use various tools safely, how they work, and why a person would use them.

We will discuss the pros and cons of different tools together and decide which ones, if any, we will use. Everyone will need treats on hand for lessons, and leashes are very helpful.

How much does training cost?

I offer services to fit all budgets, offer payment plans, and want to work with you.

When it comes to your relationship with your puppy, you get what you put in. I believe it is important to invest in your dog early, so you can live happily together for the longest period possible.

My goal is to educate as many people as possible in order to improve the lives of as many dogs as I can, and ultimately keep dogs out of shelters.

I offer free resources and many low cost programs so I am accessible to anyone struggling with their dog. I also work with shelters, training voucher programs and offer scholarships to help those who want to put in the work and are more limited on funds.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes, absolutely. I want training to be accessible for everyone willing to do the work.
